In recent years, with the swift and violent growing of the computer science technology, the demand of the convenience for the using of computer is increasing. So people-centered, natural and efficient multichannel interaction became the hot research of human-computer interaction. In this area, the gestuers as the most natural hunan interaction have the important value. The paper presents a real-time virtual human-machine interaction system based on the surface EMG-based gesture recognition technology. Surface EMG signals were collected from the upper limbs of the subject when they did six defined hand gestures. Then surface EMG pattern recognition algorithm was conducted on them and the results were used as input commands to control 3-DOF (degree of freedom) movements of the virtual plane in a virtual environment. So the contribution to the development of a new generation human-computer interaction is given from this paper. The work of this paper focuses on the following points:(1) The virtual turf, the virtual sky and the virtual plane were created based on OpenGL. And the virtual aircraft was completed with 3-DOF animation. In addition a experiment of the simulation environment is given. The experiment results show that this simulation environment performed well.(2) The discrete SEMG singals recognition algorithm was achieved. Effective SEMG signal processing algorithms including SEMG signals pre-processing, hand gesture action activities detection, feature extraction and LDC classifier were introduced. And the continuous SEMG singals recognition algorithm was achieved. The continuous singals were devided into some segmentations in time domain. Then the segmentations were indentified .(3) A multi-channel hand gesture SEMG signals acquisition, recognition and interaction system was designed and implemented. This system integrates the functions of SEMG signals acquisition, storage, template building, hand gesture recognition, and interaction control together. And Single-user and multi-user online test experiments were conducted on 10 subjects to examine the system's reliability. The experiment results show that this system performed well in the surface EMG-based gesture control of the virtual plane with high accuracy.
