At present, the maritime traffic environment of our country becomes increasingly complex and the occurrence of various marine accidents mounts; in order to insure the safety of ship navigation, the marine radar is widely used, the capability of which depends largely on its target detection capability. Searching for an effective method to improve the target detection capability has great actual significance in reducing the accident rate and improving the safety of ship navigation.Coherent processing and accumulation detection are two important signal processing methods which can effectively enhance the target detection performance of marine radar, whereas, since wavelet transform has strong local feature description capacity, it is very suitable for the processing of marine radar echo signal. This thesis, coming from the basic Sci & Tech researching project of "The Research of Digital Processing Method of Intermediate Frequency Signal for Marine Radar" supported by the Ministry of Transport, is mainly researching on the base-band signal processing of clutter signal processing method in the project.This thesis combines wavelet transform, coherent processing and accumulation detection together, and studies the coherent processing and accumulation detection of radar echo signal in wavelet domain in order to achieve clutter suppression and SNR improvement, so as to enhance target detection capability.Firstly, this thesis, aiming at the character of marine radar echo signals, chooses suitable wavelet transform and specific wavelet basis and decomposition scale; testifies that conducting scale 5 dyadic wavelet transform with haar wavelet can achieve satisfactory results. This thesis makes analysis of the coherence of radar signals in wavelet domain. As the coherence of target signals is better than that of interference signal in wavelet domain, the adjacent scales can be multiplied to strengthen signal.Afterwards, on the platform of matlab, simulation is conducted to get radar echo signals which are used in the coherent processing and accumulation detection in wavelet domain. Experiments demonstrate that the coherent processing results of wavelet domain decrease as SNR deteriorates. However, the simulation analysis results of threshold and false alarm probability and detection probability show that the coherent processing and accumulation detection in wavelet domain can effectively improve the target detection probability.Lastly, this thesis makes use of the radar echo signals actually obtained to conduct the coherent processing and accumulation detection in wavelet domain. The experiment results show that this method can effectively enhance the target detection capability of marine radar.
