In order to integrate the individually operated heterogeneous applications and eliminate the information "Information-island", an enterprise establishes a data-exchange platform. However, because of the time span for constructiong the informatization architecture and the lack of an overall plan, there may exist many data-exchange platforms in the enterprise. The main purpose of my research on the distributed applications of data exchange platform is to make all the data-exchange platforms run as a single platform, and to maximize the value of the integration.This paper introduces the research background of data-exchange platform for distributed applications, and analyzes the status of data-exchange platform research at home and abroad. Based on the functional model and key technologies of data-exchange platform, ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) and distributed system, this paper makes further research in data-exchange platform for distributed applications. A distributed multilevel model of the data-exchange platform based on a distributed ESB cluster is proposed on the basis of the multilevel management pattern of the enterprise.Inside the proposed model, the distributed ESB cluster comprising of ESB-nodes and ESB-agents is used to interact among the data-exchange platforms. An ESB-agent is an intermediate between a data-exchange platform and a ESB-node. A system based on this model has many advantages, including low development difficulty, less development time, high system efficiency and good expandability. The main research achievements of this paper are the application of data-exchange platform for multilevel model and the use of distributed ESB cluster.A prototype system based on the proposed model has been developed. A testing environment is established to verify the prototype system. The functions of the prototype system are tested with the testing environment and the results of the test are analysed. The findings of the analysis show that the prototype architecture with great system scalability and practical application significance has the obvious superiority in protecting the investment of existing projects of applications integration within an enterprise.
