When communication signal encounters the reinforced concrete wall during transmission, its propagation properties distort in the medium composed by concrete and rebar meshes. This phenomenon will seriously affect the quality of communication signal. Therefore, the research on the propagation properties of electromagnetic waves in reinforced concrete wall will be of great theoretic and practical values. In this paper, the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to study the propagation properties of electromagnetic waves in the infinite reinforced concrete walls with periodic property. The detailed work has been done as follows:1. The infinite reinforced concrete walls are truncated into a single periodic unit on the basis of Floquet theory, and the periodic boundary is disposed as well as the connection boundary.2. With the vertical incidence of electromagnetic waves into the concrete wall, single-layered and double-layered rebar meshes, single-layered and double-layered rebar meshes embedded in concrete wall, the propagation properties of electromagnetic waves are analyzed.3. The effect of such parameters as dielectric constant, conductivity, thickness of concrete, periodic and diameter of rebar lattice on the reflection and transmission properties of electromagnetic waves in reinforced concrete wall is analyzed. Some results which can be applied for the design of the communication system and engineering protection are achieved.
