Based on the principles of infrared imaging system, a 3D real-time infrared simulation framework is implemented with Ogre rendering engine in this paper. Therefore the problems of the heavy workload in the interface level development and the barrier to obtain the algorithm of infrared module in the development from simulation platform are solved.Firstly, a main configuration of infrared scene simulation framework is described according to the basic principles of infrared imaging system, and the principles of every module in infrared simulation framework are analyzed and modeled. Secondly, the different situations of 3D scene modeling are described, the methods of obtaining the rendering result data with Graphic Processing Unit and carrying out the iterative operation in GPU are proposed in this paper. Thirdly, a comprehensive analysis to the main configuration and the working procedure of Ogre rendering engine is discussed. Finally, a 3D real-time infrared simulation framework is established with Ogre rendering engine. The research results suggest that the method of implementing the 3D infrared scene simulation framework with rendering engine can solve the problems of the organization of complex scenes, the management of all kinds of resources in interface level development and the barrier to get the algorithm of infrared module in simulation platform effectively.
