Research And Application Of ATOM Publishing Protocol Based On REST

"REST"(Representational State Transfer) was put forward by Dr.Roy Thomas Fielding in his doctoral dissertation in 2000.Researches on REST a re started in recent years.However,because REST is just a design principle, there exist great difficulty and fuzziness in research or realization of REST application.Atom publishing protocol(APP) is a new and important standard of co ntent publishing and management,which is an application-layer protocol issu ed by IETF based on HTTP protocol,using HTTP methods(GET,POST,P UT,and DELETE) to create and edit web resources.Actually,APP is a we b protocol based on REST by strictly controlling and regulating REST in m any aspects.Therefore,Research on APP is the core value of the research on REST.Firstly,the basic concept of the REST and APP is introduced in this t hesis.Secondly,according to the basic nature of REST on HTTP and URI, APP is analyzed based on ROA(Resource-Oriented Architecture),and the requirement analysis of a demonstration system of APP is given.Thirdly,th e system is designed and implemented by Ruby on rails.Finally,the system is tested respectively by using two popular APP clients.The results prove the correctness of the system implemented by MVC pattern(Model,View, Controller).
