The conception of photonic crystal has been raised from the early ideas by Yablonovitch and John in 1987. With the development of modern science and technology and the requirement of communication, photonic crystals have achieved significant progress in photonics, optoelectronics, material science and physics. Since the past twenty years, some basic structure and devices based on photonic crystals such as photonic crystal fiber, photonic crystal laser, photonic crystal LED, photonic crystal filters, couplers, splitters and circulators have been reported and some of them have been commercialized. In this article we focus our interest on optical switching design, which is based on two dimension photonic crystal waveguide. The structure is triangular lattice geometry based and therefore we artfully introduced three passages in the structure, two of them for signals and one for control light. The signal can be switched on and off by control lights with the instantaneous Kerr nonlinearity. We demonstrate the switching action through numerical experiments.Having compared the method introduced in photonic crystal simulation, we choose the program based on finite difference time domain method to start our research. We carefully examine the relationship between dielectric constant and photonic bandgap, taking fabrication technology into consideration our structure is base on silicon. And in the design we change the radius of dielectric rods and choose the optimized parameters to get the maximum relative bandwidth.Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation suggest that our structure has the switching action. Demonstrated through analyze and optimization design we believed that this structure will be a good choice in future's all optical integration. The small size of photonic crystal devices will have a wide range of usages.
