In traditional communication system,source coding and channel coding is operated individually. But the separation approach often leads to low efficiency. Real-world systems benefit through joint design of source and channel coders, when given knowledge of the channel. For such systems, performance improvements may be achieved. The following algorithms have been presented and tested in the thesis:In order to solve error-diffusing problem of traditional Joint Source-Channel Coding(JSCC), a decoding method is proposed. The decoder utilizes the statistical characteristic of received signals to recover the original sequence of symbols commendably. A decoding method based on quantization is also proposed, in which the holding path number should be selected properly. Compared with the algorithm which is not quantized, the performance is improved and the complexity decreased. It is also convenient to the hardware requirement.Based on Anti-Interference algorithm for wavelet image coding,a JSCC approach has been proposed according to the characteristic of source and channel coding to perform unequal error protection for the source data. This part puts importance on Turbo-codes. It obtains superior performance.
