In this study, after a diffusely analysis of the developing tendency of laser range finder and it's correlation technology, the range finding principle, range finding equation and SNR equation are detailedly expounded and deduced in theory based on the diffuse reflection target. Some problems such as the factor causing range finding error and the influence caused by high and cold mountainous region on laser range finder are analyzed and explored. The result provides the theoretical basis for logical estimating, optimization of assuming and quantifying the index property of pulse laser range finding system. Since extant laser range finders have the deficiencies in high and cold mountainous regions, such as insecurity to eyes, short ranging, unitary function, high fault rate and so on, a multifunctional laser ranging system is put forward according to the requirement of frontier counterattack and the developing tendency of laser range finder. This multifunctional laser ranging system can be used in range finding, angle taking and infrared photography. It also can be used day and night. The feasibility of this system is analyzed and expounded. Meanwhile, the control panel, hand part, field lens and material selection are ameliorated according to the equipment security and comfortable for use.These ameliorations are of great importance to the improvement of attack efficiency.
