Laser Diode pumped solid-state laser(DPSSL) is an important branch in laser field. Continuous wave and pulse operation,Q-switching and mode-locking operation have been achieved for DPSSL which have many application in the field of medicine, process and so on.There are many ways to generate blue laser.Currently, the general way to generate blue laser is using 946nm pumped Nd3+:YAG quasi-three-level laser system. This thesis will focus on the design, fabrication, characterizing of 473nm wavelength DPSSL laser. We have set up a more simulation model for the quasi-three-level DPSSL based on previous research results, analyzed the relationship between lasing threshold and pumping radius, and found out the optimum length of the laser crystal. The relationship between inversion particle population, the pump light and laser output has also analyzed. We have discussed the effect of matching of the pumping beam and the laser mode, the relationship of slope efficiency with structural parameters. Finally,we give the optimized operation condition of the designed DPSSL.We have analyzed the energy level and Florence spectrum of Nd3+:YAG crystal, calculated the stimulated cross section and the absorption cross section, discussed the possibility of 946nm laser operation at room temperature and pointed out that it is the most suitable laser crystal for blue laser generation. Finally,LBO has been selected as the crystal for frequency doubling by theoretical analysis of frequency conversion and comparison of laser crystals. In the end,we have designed the whole experimental scheme according to the above considerations.LD pumping sources, beam coupling, optical coating, laser cavity adjusting etc.all have been done for verifying the designed laser structure.
