According to the situation and development of optical cable manufacturing equipment both home and abroad nowadays, making new structured optical cable requires more and more developed related equipments. This thesis is committed to the research of the extruder which is an important part of optical cable manufacturing equipment.First, through a brief introduction to the working principles and composing parts of the optical cable extruder, the related technical indexes of the extruder, such as the screw rolling speed stability, screw linearity, temperature controller's speediness and stability are presented. Then, the plans of how to choose parts to compose the extruder controller system will be analyzed, so a clear definition of the controller system being made up will be stated .That is using SIMATIC S7-315-2DP PLC (a programmable controller) as a key controlling part of extruder, using SIMATIC TP270 operating panel to easily operate and monitor the whole equipment running, and using SIMOREG digital DC drive to run the main motor.Next, a series of PLC programs will be explained how to control the temperature and speed of extruder. A method of temperature control system adopting PID algorithm the "on-off" control principal of the relay, the PID-Relay control algorithm of temperature is introduced. The method of actual rotating speed reference set point 's calculation is also be discussed. At the end, ProTool is used to finish the customer's program, through download to the human-machine interface TP270 to supervise the temperature, speed, and pressure controlling task. This system is full of developed technology and can fully meet the process requirement of making new structured cable.
