| The report on the use of internet in recent years demonstrates that internet is an important channel for people to learn news. The news websites have already become the major force for news spreading. This article selects a representative commercial news website, Sina, as a case to be studied. The analysis begins from the point of view of the spreader in the mass media, and hopefully finds out how this spreader produces news under the present news policies in China. The study in this article is, to some extent, original, for there are only a few researches on internet news studied from this point of view.The commercial news websites are not free to write news by themselves because present news policies in China set some limits on them. Therefore, the present commercial news websites do not carry the quality as mass media in its full sense. However, after more-than-ten-year development, internet news has reached far beyond simple patterns as "copy" and "stick". The pressure from the professional demands on news processing, coupled with the pressure from commercial competition forced the news websites to develop.The paradigm advocated by Thomas Kuhn proposed the theoretical basis, on which the normal science bases, and practical patterns. A paradigm is a way of viewing reality for the community that shares them, especially in an intellectual discipline. This article regards Lasswell's pattern of "5W" as a paradigm in the field of news spreading and research. The premise of this article is that the news spreading through internet observes the same paradigm.Therefore, in my opinion, the role of the commercial news website is no more than a spreader, which differs greatly from the traditional media on many aspects, namely, exterior policies, spreading characteristics and effects. How can a huge news spreading body like this select and organize news when it is surrounded by hundreds of thousands of pieces of information every day? How can the news spreader guarantee its news quality? How many exterior factors may affect its news production? And what problems exist under the present situations? These questions will be explored in the article.The research pattern in this article is inspired by the classical research on the news processing of traditional media, Social Control in the News Room, written by Warren Breed in 1955. And my thesis explores the internet news production through two aspects, interior and exterior researches. The interior research includes how the internet news is produced, how theories are put into effect, and how the interior organization of the news website may influence the spread of the news notions. On the other hand, the exterior research mainly studies the influences on the news production from the policies, economy and competitive factors.The research method adopted in his article is literature analysis, at the same time, it also conducts a bunch of interviews and combines my own experiences in newspaper offices, and therefore, the article hopefully demonstrates the reality of the internet news production. In order to present the characteristics of the internet news production, I will, in each chapter, make comparisons between present and traditional news production of the media.The article aims at exploring the production of the seemingly simple internet news and the factors that may affect it. On the other hand, the analysis of the internet news production aims at finding out the problems existed in the internet news. Nowadays, with the growing influences of the internet news. it is better for people to learn more about the production of the internet news, thus to refine our taste and receive information selectively. Moreover, the article hopes to guide people to consider the present website media rationally since it is not perfect. |
