This paper is based on the item of "863" national plan——the research on straw-checkerboards barriers paving robot. In this paper, the chief purpose is to optimize the dimensions of the lengthways pavingwheels system of straw-checkerboards barriers paving robot and to do the finite elementanalysis of it so as to establish an optimizational blue print and to get the minimal lengthwaysforce and pull, and to meet the power demand. The Bekker's bearing pressure model has been used to calculate the roll resistance, the cutmodel has been used to calculate attachment force, and Lagrange's method of undeterminedmultiplier has been used to optimize the diameter of the lengthways paving wheels. Accordingto the finite element analysis of it, we can get the place where the shearing force and strain isthe maximal. The language of Matlab has been used to deal with the data coming from theresult of the finite element analysis to achieve the relation of lengthways paving wheels systembreadth with the stress and lengthways paving wheels system breadth with strain, so the finalblue print could be set down by the above data. The design project of the paving wheels system affects directly on paving quality oflengthways grass and the work efficiency of the lengthways paving department, moreimportant, it has an affect on the work capability of the whole machine. Furthermore, itprovides reliable foundation of the theories and the tests. In addition, the model of the finiteelement analysis I made could be used for many other sandy conditions and has comprehensivetheory meaning for the analogous research. Also, it can be used for reference for other similarroll works.
