With the fast developing of mobile Internet, mobile computers become more and more popular nowadays. What is more, mobile users want to enjoy multimedia and other real-time services in the Internet. However, due to the huge difference between wired and wireless link technologies, network performs badly when mobile nodes moves between different agents. So how to optimize the quality of service in the mobile Internet attracts more and more researchers. In this paper, we introduce a new method to forecast the probable handoff for the mobile nodes. That is to say, the method translates the useful information into a probable handoff, based on the mining of stream data. We can also use the new method to optimize the transmission control mechanism of wireless TCP to provide better QoS for mobile users. So based on the new method, we also optimize the Q-TCP protocol (QoS Object Option based Transmission Control Protocol) after a deep research on it. The optimized Q-TCP does not need to cooperate with the IP layer any more, it just needs to collect data on the key network QoS parameters of mobile network and translates them into a probable handoff, and then take some corresponding actions. After optimization, Q-TCP becomes a real end-to-end TCP protocol, and it is more flexible. What is more, we use OPNET 11.5 to simulate the optimized Q-TCP. The results show that Q-TCP can perform better than the normal TCP in the mobile environment on the key network QoS parameters, such as data rate, packet loss rate and end-to-end delay. So we conclude from it that the optimized Q-TCP can provide better QoS in mobile network.
