With the development of broadband data services, there comes the problem of network congestion on the broadband network. WDM equipment is a good solution for this problem.But application of WDM equipment will face the problem of the complex services and imbalance resource distribution on the metro network. Therefore, the key technology is a good multi-service and transparent multiplexing unit on the metro-WDM equipmentThe paper contains system structure design,debug,test solution of multi-service and transparent multiplexing unit,and the software development of the Sub-rate Multiplexer Unit.The author first puts forward a network module of metro-WDM equipment based on the characteristics of metro-Network.Secondly, the author completes the design of system structure and function , including the Clock Switcher Unit, SDH Multiplex Unit, and Data Service Aggregation Electrical interface. Thirdly, the author completes software development of the SDH Multiplex Unit,inclueding clock function module,alarm and perform module,OTN function module,WDM management module,optical wave module and so on.Forthly, the author put forwards the debug and test solution to certificate the reliability and ability of the system.At the last,putting forward some aspects that need further investigation.
