Research And Application Of Defect Management In The Process Of System Development

Implement defect management is an effective method to reduce the negative influence in system since defect is unavoidable in the process of system development. In view of the deficiency of traditional defect management, also we consider defect measurement plays an important role in the process of system development, but in practice it has not been paid enough attention to. Capability Maturity Model—CMM has been applied widely, which is used to measure and analyze the process of defect management on the basis of optimizing the present one in this paper. And statistical control technology has also been applied to break the old pattern, so that there has been an innovation on the present defect management pattern finally. Concretely, this paper's main research contents include:(1) The theory of defect management has been studied, the factors have been illustrated, the objectives and the relationship between CMM and defect management have been made clear.(2) Defect management measurement has been proposed in based on the existing problems of the present defect management, in order to analyze defect data which come from the daily MIS of a court PC department, a Defect Management Evaluation System has been designed and weights have been proposed to evaluate comprehensively.(3) A process model of defect measurement has been brought up by analyzing the process of defect management, which has statisticed the trend of defect development. The statistical control technology has been applied in the defect measurement, the U control chart has been taken to control the process, and a process capability index taken as the control measure criteria has been involved to judge the controllable stability of the process in a system.(4) Visual SourceSafe—VSS has been used to build a communication platformin a team in order to share the defect information in time and enhance the interaction ofthe process in defect management.Such improvements in defect management have made the process upgrade to a level of measurable management, and have realized process control well. It has not only reduced the workload but also controlled the development schedule, and assisted the process of system development improvement, which has brought defect management into play.
