The tracking system of the whole expressway is an important application of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), Which is a comprehensive management system including GPS technology, GIS technology, fiber communication technology, wireless communication technology, control technology, and so on. Direct against expressway existing electromechanical equipment facilities at present,this thesis has proposed, designed and developed the tracking system of the whole expressway that is based on the existing fiber emergency telephone system and the toll collecting system of the expressway.The characteristics of the system are low invested costs, short construction period, and cheap cost of use. In the section of introduction, the development state of ITS at home and abroad is described briefly. In chapter two,the wireless communication technology and its standard used at present as well as the characteristics of wireless transmit are introduced.In chapter three , the existing communication system, fiber emergency telephone system and the toll collecting charge system of the expressway are introduced.On this basis,overall design plan of the whole tracking system based on fiber communication and wireless communication is provided in detail.In chapter four,the hardware design of the car-carried card and the roadside device are discussed in detail based on the consideration of the stability and real-time property of the products.The main part of the software design and the programming implement of our MCU and CC1020 are discussed in chapter five. At the end of this thesis, we summarize the characteristic and meaning of this subject, and point out what we should do in the near future to optimize our product in chapter six.
