Ad hoc networks are a kind of wireless mobile network which works in the unstructured and self-organization environment. Wireless mobile Ad hoc networks' nodes have to rely on portable power supply that is limited, the continuous introduction of new functions puts forward higher requirements for power consumption. As much as possible to extend the life of nodes and network, energy saving has been a professional commitment to research problems.Traditional routing protocols are used to find a set of metrics to maintain the best path, the most commonly used metric is the least hops. However, this index does not take into account energy consumption and lifetime problems of nodes and networks, that may lead to the node energy waste and excessive use, and ultimately makes the nodes and network life of nodes and networks decline quickly. In order to solve this problem, we propose an energy aware routing protocols based on MEDSR-EA (Minimum energy dynamic source routing based on energy aware).According to DSR protocol, MEDSR protocol adjusts emission energy of the nodes in the dynamically during route discovery process, thus reduces the energy consumption of nodes. MEDSR-EA is put forward for minimum energy Dynamic Source Routing (MEDSR) protocol. It proposes an energy awareness strategy which uses path survival degrees as the main metrics to select the best path, MEDSR-EA selects the maximum survival degrees path to forward data, and reduces node energy waste and excessive use.To analyze the performance of MEDSR protocol and MEDSR-EA protocol, we simulate the DSR, MEDSR and MEDSR-EA protocols on NS2 simulation system. The simulation results show that MEDSR-EA protocol have a strong connectivity and long lifetime.
