With the rapid development of Internet technology, high requirements for computer storage system performance and data availability were increacingly required. The newly IP-based network storage system has gradually become the focus of the industry in the new storage architecture. However, the tendency for adopting effective methods of data placement to improve data availability and disk utilization has becoming a widespread concern.In this paper, the current situation of storage security for storage structure of network was analyzed based on the iSCSI protocol, it is found that although the ptotocol provided the identity authentication during login stage, it did not provide security mechanisms to ensure the security of iSCSI PDU when it transmitted in IP network. So an iSCSI secure strategy based on IPSec protocol was designed, which could realize secure transmission of data with lower system overhead, and effectively improve the security of iSCSI network storage system in the process of data transmission.Then, the existing error-tolerant technology for network storage were analyzed and compared vastly. For the existing storage systems, whose reliability would be reduced and the data would not be restored when the size was enlarged. A double error-tolerant data placement model based on dual odd even check is builded. Detailed analysis show that the new layout method has the advantages of low calculation load, easy coding, not difficult to realize, and a major improvement for I/O performance compared with other layout. So it can well be used in practice.At last, the heterogeneous data storage data placement, current research situation and exsting problems were analyzed. For the performance bottleneck of the Heterogeneous storage structure, a self-adaptive data placement aogorithm that can be applied for iSCSI network storage system was designed and a simulation was carried out. The result shows that this layout method can improve the space utilization ratio of disk elements in full consideration of the discrepancy of heterogeneous disk in I/O speed and volume.
