Mountain Yi is a place which is famous for its beautiful natural scenery. Besides itsbeautiful scenery, Mountain Yi is also well known not for for its historical and cultural resources.In the whole history of the feudal dynasty, many Emperors who had offered sacrifices to Yi ShanShen. Benefit from the attention of the Royal Family, local officials and ordinary people began toworship Mountain Yi. Therefore, from leaders to the ordinary people, sacrificing mountain Yimeant a Ceremony for family reunions and national celebration.Ming dynasty is a special time in Chinese feudal dynasty. Its sacrifice entered a new stage,both the official and folk worship were very representative. In this article, by carding stone stalesand historical data, the author made a interpretation of mountain Yi belief condition in the Mingdynasty.The paper has seven parts described as follows:Introduction part describes the significance of the topic, results of previous studies and thisresearch methods.The first chapter focuses on the transition of mountain Yi faith in the whole history of thefeudal dynasty.The second chapter focuses on mountain Yi faith from the official perspective in MingDynasty. For the state this belief Can be divided into function and ritual parts. From the functionpoint, mountain Yi is the medium for the emperor to communicate with god. They ask god tosolve some problems,such as war, natural disaster,etc. As a ceremony,it shows the control of thecentral government to the local, highlights the legitimacy of imperial power.The third chapter is about the communication of mountain Yi faith among the folks. Themountain Yi belief in the Ming dynasty mainly is led by the state, and popular religion iscomplementary. In the folk, due to the national control of mountain Yi belief,the development ofthis belief is limited, but through a series of folklore, the establishment of some Dong Zhentemples, and records about the Dong Zhen temple fairs, we can see that the mountain Yi beliefspreads quickly.Chapter IV perspective from the text to explore the other faiths in mountain Yi area.The fifth chapter analyzes the effect of the mountain Yi faith of Ming dynasty on thefollowing times.The last part is the conclusion, based on the analysis of the previous chapters that themountain Yi belief in the Ming dynasty mainly is led by the state, and popular religion iscomplementary. Therefore, in the author’s opinion, the interpretation mountain Yi faith of the Ming dynasty is meaningful, it can show the rise and fall of the Ming dynasty, and it is theimportant reference to politics of the Ming dynasty. What’s more,it can provide insightfulinformation for the Lu Zhong regional social history research.
