Since 2000, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China has started long-distance on-line enrollment of university students in some provinces and cities. After several years'exploration and practice, the on-line enrollment has already become the unique way to enroll the university students among all Chinese universities. At the same time, as the significant reform of enrollment, the on-line enrollment glows the formidable vitality, which gains the support and affirmation from the society. However, on the other hand, there are still a lot of things need to be improved on the procedures of on-line enrollment. For example: the system software what we use now is designed by Qinghua University, which is mainly for the general need of all the universities, but neglects the characteristics of each university'enrollment policy. In addition, this system regards provinces and cities as the operation unit. After the universities finish the enrollment, they need to deal with the enrollment data from various provinces again, such as compile, statistic, print the admission letters and administrate the new students. The present system cannot cover all the above functions. Therefore, each university must develop its own management software, which can meet its own need. For the purpose of this demand, this article explores the research and development work of on—line enrollment system. Jilin University is one of the universities, which not only has the largest annual quantity of enrolling new students each year, but also the numbers of specialties and scales take the lead in China. The form of enrolling students has certain characteristics in all Chinese universities. This article introduces the enrolling system of Jilin University, which combines the work (such as setting—up plan, long—distance enrollment, printing admission letters, data statistics and so on). At present, there are no reports about the systems with the function of enrolling among all the universities. The experience of developing this system has certain value in promoting in the field of enrolling students among all Chinese universities. The enrollment of universities plays a vital role in the universities and students. In view of the request of enrolling students and the insufficiency existing information, the author analyzed the procedures of enrolling students, and then designed the complete data model of the information of enrolling students. Based on this model, designed the new management system of enrolling university students. According to the function of this system, the overall system is divided into three subsystems, such as management of enrollment plan, enrollment, and enrollment information. According to the function of the system, it separately achieved the functions of compiling enrollment plan, management of long—distance enrolling and information, and issuing. The subsystem of management of enrolling plan, succeeds in the solution of data between existing plan and origin plan, compiling of same specialized code, but different specialized direction plan, which is extremely satisfied with the problems of the enrollment of the same specialized code with multi—specialties in Jilin University, at the same time, perfectly achieves the compiling function of multi—universities code in partial provinces. These technical breakthroughs have played the extraordinarily important role in the actual enrollment plan of students, which safeguard the flexibility of plan compiling, and effectively enhance the working efficiency. The subsystem of enrolling students management is under the basis of 'National Ordinary Universities Enrollment System', which is founded by Qinghua University establishes. It combines the enrollment policy of Jilin University, compiles the brand-new enrollment essence, and completes the function of the drawback of students file records. In order to achieve the changing policy of enrollment, the enrolling templates of this system have the characteristics of satisfying the enrollment needs in the aspect of function. Through certain manual control, solves the problems of dis—standard enrolling data among various provinces, and protect the benefits of the students to the greatest degree. This is also the big characteristic of this subsystem, which manifests its extremely good adaptability. The subsystem of enrollment information management mainly undertakes series of responsibilities after long—distance enrollment, such as compiling new students'data, reorganization, statistics, admissionletters printing, name register printing and so on. It is the largest subsystem of processing duty most and has the most functional modules. This subsystem succeeds in conversing various enrollment information data from each province to request unified from of each university, through the methods of data conversion algorithm. This article elaborates a set of complete design of Undergraduate Admission Management System, which emphases on describing the design of the subsystem of enrollment information management, and the realization of main functions. The characteristic of this subsystem is to process more information, and more connected information, which brings a lot of difficulties to the management and realization. The design of this system has achieved a series of functions of unifying enrollment data, inquiring, and statistics and so on, which initially achieved the overall functions of processing the enrollment data. This article, with the aid of the UML, a kind of object-oriented modeling language, detailed introduced the analysis of Undergraduate Admission Management System and the design process. It is an attempt to utilize knowledge into practice. The structure of this paper is according to the software engineering process, which starts from the analysis of this system to the process system designing gradually and excessively. It selects some representative models from UML to express the demand of system and the information for the need of system design. UML is one kind of modeling language, which has the characteristics of good definitions, easy to express, strong functions and universal suitable. It dissolved into the new thought, method and technology of software engineering field. Its function is not restricted in the analysis and design of supporting the object-oriented, but also the entire process of developing this software from the beginning of demand analysis. It has carried on the exploration of (RUP) design to develop this system. It has the detailed analysis on one of most important components—enrollment information management subsystem. It also has the question domain analysis, which determined the Use case chart, drew the dynamic behavior molded relief map, the smooth chart and the physical realization module chart, the disposition chart. With the above charts, establish the database model and realize a quite complete step. This new system was practices in the process of enrollment of Jilin University, which has obtained better benefits. Moreover present someproposals and solution means on the recruitment information system of students and forecast. During the process of developing this system, the author used the systematical analysis and designing methods of object-oriented. The UML modeling language has applied the distributional software system structure, and achieved the system modulization. By using Power the Builder development, this system has the good man-machine contact surface and maintainability. Because of complex data formats (including dbf, db, mdb and xls and so on), by the use of ODBC, we process the multi—databases form coexistence and reduce the cost of system maintenance. The Undergraduate Admission Management System is very complicated, which needs to develop more designing links, especially the combined parts with Qinghua system. Now the new system is only limited in data transmission, while the enrollment condition and the process information management has not structured yet. This is not enough in the management of recruitment and enrollment of students, but also needs further develop. This design causes me to learn more developing experience, and better grasp the procedures of software development.
