A dual- wavelength tunable TEA CO2 laser suitable for isotope separation was developed, which can generate two different wavelength space-overlapped laser pulses . The output energy exceeds 2J.The two wavelengths are tunable respectively. The energy proportion of the two wavelengths is tunable. In this paper, the TEA CO2 laser's designing and structure characteristic are provided, the output characteristics are analyzed, and the relation between output energy and mixture pressure , pressure proportion and working -voltage are also summarized. At the last, we obtain the output waveform.In this paper, design criteria for the construction of this kind of TEA CO2 laser are presented. We mainly take research in the amplification characteristics of CO2 laser's double-frequency.In experiment, Through lots of experiments, we get the characters of the dual-wavelength tunable TEA CO2 laser which we have developed. Through experiment, we got that his new kind of TEA CO2 laser have these advantages: the compass of the tunable wave is a bit large, the adjustment of the compare of energy, and its capability of bigger output energy through amplification stage and so on. It conquers many disadvantages of the last lasers of, synthesize the advantages of the mentioned lasers .We use this laser to separate isotope in experiment and we achieve a content result.In theory, we deduce the output energy expression and we also calculate the distributing of light intensity. All those accord with what we have got in experiment. So we can explain that the spot gets more homogenous after being gained, and the space overlapping gets better also. Different wavelength light beam can get differentgain through the amplifier, the conclusion is that light beam whose energy intensity is bigger gets more gain. Then we conclude that all those we have obtained in experiment accord with what we get here. In the last, we also estimate the distributing of particles for different wave-length light beams using for gain.
