Application Of Cooperative Learning In Regional Geography Teaching And Learning

In the article,first I introduce the origin and development of cooperative learning and the basis of cooperative learning theory.Then I give a demonstration of necessity and feasibility of application of cooperative learning in regional geography teaching and I build the patterns of application of cooperative learning in regional geography teaching basing on studying the cooperative learning theory.Finally I carry out a preliminary research on application of cooperative learning in regional geography teaching by action research method and experiment research method.On this search,I choose four classes with almost the same proficiency level and which are taught by the same teaching faculties in Seventh Grade as experimental classes and control classes to carry out the experiment.This experiment divides into three stages.In the experiment,I improve the problems constantly.After a school year,I compare the learning interest,co-operation consciousness and ability,scores between the experimental classes and control classes.Then I find application of cooperative learning in regional geography teaching can increase the students' interest to learn geography,enhance their co-operation consciousness,train their co-operation ability and improve their scores in geography.In practice,I also find this teaching strategy highly demanding on teachers.The teacher must do enough preparations for it.According the students' cognitive qualities,the teacher must try to research the validity of application of cooperative learning in regional geography teaching by practice and solve the problems such as "can't cooperate","free-rider" and knowledge "leave out".Application of cooperative learning in regional geography teaching is improving steadily by teachers' reflections.If the teachers plan carefully, organize meticulously and evaluate reasonably,cooperative learning in our geography class must be efficient,orderly and become one of the efficient ways to study regional geography.
