The Development Experience Of American Land-grand College And Its Implications For The Development Of Chinese Independent College

Independent college started from 1999, which is the school-running model of Higher Education with Chinese Characteristics, is the outcome of higher education popularization and higher education reform. The formation of independent college which is the demand of higher educational cause development in China, has an positive effect on the guarantee of the growth of higher education scale and the enlargement of higher education resource and so on. Independent college is the new type of school-running model with Chinese Characteristics and mass creating spirit. But as the other neonatal things, the development of independent college which will be some inevitable difficulties,problems and contradictions, will be a gradually improving and ripening process. These problems and contradictions are correctly understood and summarized is the very important realistic significance for promoting the further healthy development of independent college and the whole higher education.America roundly took the course of capitalist industry development after the civil war. However, higher education reformed tradition to adapt to the new situation need was the requirement of capitalist production development, based on this circumstances, many people appealed the American Federal Government to reform the traditional higher education, that was to take effective measures to establish the new technical colleges by financial aid in each state for training technical talents inthe industrial circles. In this situation, a new type higher education--land-grantcollege emerged. Land-grant college which is the splendor in American higher education history and even world higher education history, promotes the democratization and popularization of American higher education, perfects American higher education system and establishes the third function of higher education; meanwhile, changes America rapidly from agricultural country to industrial country.In this paper, author puts forward some suggestions and new thoughts on Chinese independent college development to promote the healthy and rapid development of independent college ,by exploring the emergence,present situation and developing problems of Chinese independent college, analyzing the emergence background,development pattern and school-running characteristics of land-grand college, and using for reference on the development experience of land-grand college.
