A Study Into The Influence That The Examples Of Advanced Individuals Have On Young University Students In The New Period

A fine example has boundless power. Therefore, every era calls for its advancedindividuals, through whom the power of truth and the power of their noble character canunite, encourage and shape people, thus exerting a significant influence on the society.Before the reform and opening-up, the examples of advanced individuals exerted afar-reaching influence among young university students, stimulating them to work hardand keep forging ahead. Nowadays, with the opening-up widened and the socialistmarket-oriented economy deepened, whether the examples of advanced individuals stillexert a positive influence on young university students has turned out to be an issue ofgreat interest for people throughout the nation. Based on the theories of Ideological andPolitical Education, Sociology, the Science of Youth etc., the thesis firstly conducts areview of the previous study on the connotation and features, the significance andfunction mechanism, and the related literature about the setting and the propaganda ofadvanced individuals in academic circles both home and abroad. And then, by means ofconducting a survey of university students in Fujian, it investigates into the currentsituation and characteristics of the influence that the examples of advanced individualshave on the youth in the new period. Through the investigation, it is found that theinfluence has been diminishing, which is detrimental to the development of a soundpersonality of the youth and to the social construction of ideological infrastructure in ournation. In view of this situation, the thesis attempts to find out the subjective andobjective reasons for this phenomenon from the aspects of social background, thecharacteristics of the youth's mind and the propaganda of the examples of advancedindividuals. Lastly, the thesis proposes solutions to reinforce the influence that theexamples of advanced individuals have from the following aspects: the cultivation ofadvanced culture, the setting and propaganda of examples of advanced individuals, andthe improvement of an effective mechanism.
