Based on the previous researches on pride and combined with the background of Chinese culture, the study discussed the Difference between Authentic pride and Hubristic Pride Through the subjects of Chinese college students. The results showed that under the different conditions of the explicit and implicit social comparison, hubristic Pride possessed the qualitiy of tacitness while authentic pride probably didn't possess this quality. However, we can't eliminate the possibility of its qualitiy of tacitness. The study again testified the relationship between publicity with social comparison and the emotion of pride. The more intensive of publicity with social comparison was, the easier of authentic pride would be induced. While, hubristic pride was the contrary. Additionally, the study raised up a new experimental paradigm to induce the emotion of authentic pride and hubristic pride. Study one embodied two aims. Firstly, through the settlement of experimental condition, study one aimed at the exploration of whether authentic pride and hubristic pride under the condition of explicit social comparison were both easier to be induced than the other conditions and which one of them was much more easier to be induced. Secondly, through the verification of the rationality of introduction of the induction of authentic pride and hubristic pride, which means through the combination of attribution and social comparison, the study tested the extent of the induction of authentic pride and hubristic pride. In study one, there were four sections. including the emotion induction experimental section, the feedback controlment section, the grouping of successful group and lossing group section, questionnaire completion section. In the emotion induction experimental section, study one set the real experimental situation-the five rings test of Tower of Hanoi as the formal experiment. The subjects were demanded to operate the software of TOH on computer and to record the information of steps into the Step Recording Paper of TOH simultaneously. The eventual score contained both the record on the Step Recording Paper of TOH and the time recorded by the TOH software on computer. In the section of the feedback controlment, the subjects were evenly allocated into five different conditions, including personal condition, public condition, social comparison condition, social comparison & ability attribution condition and social comparison & effort attribution condition. Under the personal condition, subjects would not get any introduction except the first introduction when arriving at the lab. The difference between the public condition and personal condition was that the subjects under public condition would get the aftertest questionnaire. The main difference among the social comparison condition, social comparison & ability attribution condition and social comparison & effort attribution condition is on the attribution. The grouping of successful group and lossing group section only existed in the last three social comparison conditions with the main aim at controlling the orientation of social comparison. In the questionnaire completion section, aftertest questionnaire mainly tested the validity of different conditions. Results showed that the five experimental conditions in study one were valid. Additionally, authentic pride wouldn't be compressed in the explicit social comparison conditions. The more intensive of publicity with social comparison, the easier of authentic pride to be induced. While, hubristic pride was the contrary. There were two aims of Study two. Firstly, through the settlement of experimental condition, study one aimed at the exploration whether hubristic pride was much easier to be induced than authentic pride was under the implicit social comparison conditions. Secondly, hubristic pride possessed the quality of tacitness while authentic pride didn't. Study two also contained four sections as that in study one. However, the difference between them is that the experimental conditions in study two reduced to three. Another difference is that in the feedback controlment section, study two added an attributional coherence section so as to raise the experimental validity. Results show that combined with study one, comparatively speaking, the emotion of hubristic pride of subjects in implicit social comparison condition wasn't suppressed and exhibit the quality of tacitness. However, we can't eliminate the possibility that in the background of Chinese culture authentic pride also possess the quality of tacitness. This needs further verification. Generally speaking, under the background of Chinese culture, there were differences between authentic pride and hubristic pride in the process of explicit and implicit social comparison conditions. And, hubristic pride possessed the quality of tacitness, while authentic pride probably didn't possess the quality of tacitness.
