| Reading is one of the most important parts in second language learning. For the third year students in senior high school , it is still a difficult point. Their reading ability need to be improved eagerly. Thereby, How to improve English reading comprehension skill is a key task for the teachers and learners.Quite a few people believe that Chinese plays a negative transfer role in English reading and they ignore its positive transfer into English study. But in recent years some researchers have strongly realized the positive effect of Chinese transfer. In order to verify the existence of positive transfer of mother tongue(Chinese) in English reading ,the present writer made surveys and had tests.Many methods have been used in the thesis such as questionnaire and test research, The writer divided some Senior 3 students into nine subgroups for further analysis. The findings shows that Chinese reading ability indubitably effects English reading ability; vocabulary is the essential element in reading ; As the students'English level is achieved, their relative ability of Chinese reading comprehension increases, too.Chinese and English reading skills in some areas are very close as well. Results analysis for the questionnaire indicate that reader's purpose and reader's motivation also play an important role in the course of improving English reading ability. In order to improve English reading ability , some more suggestions have been mentioned in the thesis too.Obviously the research refers to mufti-factor approach , there are still many objects remaining to be studied. |
