The Study And Practice Of New American Literature Teaching Methods Guided By The Theory Of Constructivism In Private Institutions Of Higher Education

The birth of constructivism has attracted a lot of educational experts and educators. Constructivism is widely used in English teaching practice, which has far-reaching significance to English teaching. Constructivism mainly emphasizes helping learners actively construct their own knowledge in English learning, such formation of knowledge is the process for learners to actively deal with new information to construct new knowledge by means of their original knowledge and experience. Therefore, the constructivism theory provides a solid theoretical basis for English teachers to carry out the teaching reform.This thesis, in terms of the investigation and analysis of the present situation of American literature course of the three different private institutions of higher education, finds there are some differences of students' source between Chinese private institutions of higher education and normal universities, the basic knowledge foundation of students in private institutions is relatively weaker. And there exist some problems in American literature course, which can not meet most students' expectation of American literature course. So this thesis aims to design new teaching methods of American literature course under the guidance of constructivism theory, in order to improve the present teaching situation of American literature course to exploit a new way of teaching American literature course.
