In early 1990s, due to the social restructing of China, Chinese oil painting has undergone tremendous changes, and many different styles emerged. Reflecting the"concept"in the works seems to be a very popular practice. This agitation drove oil painting style to individuation development, but also promoted the fusion of Chinese and western culture on concept and the form of painting works. The development of imagery canvas painting is representative, for this form can combine the"language"of western paintings technology with the"image"of traditional Chinese aesthetics well. Since the traditional image spirit is our unique esthetics thought, to Chinese painters, when the painting is no longer constrained by skills but emphasizes the ideological connotation, searching new inspiration from tradition is an inevitable choice for forming our own work style and painting language.As far as human essence and value are concerned, image paintings dispel doubts about meaning of life, emphasize the artistic emotion, and pay attention to the art performance and aesthetic. It has positive influence on the building of the ontology of art. Image, which is different from liberal style and expression, does not belong to any painting expression. Instead, it reflects a lyric realm. Its artistic expression includes various forms, and no matter realism, performance, or abstract are likely to pursue the images. Besides, oil paintings can express the images to extremes for their advantages on color, material, and the performance of the language. So we should keep pace with the times to understand it, to inherit and carry forward the national artistic spirit, rather than simply treat or abandon it.Based on comparative analysis of aesthetic images value of the classical Chinese philosophy and modern western aesthetics images, this paper sums that both the Chinese and western image theory is subject to the relationship between aesthetic emotion and aesthetic objects to understand the image problems. Thus divides the current image of painting form into realism type, expressionistic type and formalism type. Through the elaboration of aesthetic value of Chinese image painting and the establishment of light spot of Chinese image painting, this paper points out that how should Chinese oil painting realize the heritage. Through the discussing, the Chinese image painting creators who are in the pursuit of aesthetic qualities are expected to create paintings with Chinese characteristics, to make Chinese painting be a benign carrier of spreading the Oriental culture.
