| As the research of English teaching deepens in our country, more attention has been paid to the cultural transmission and awareness. It has been widely accepted that the process of learning a foreign language should be the process of learning the cultural context of this language at the same time. English teaching is not only a transmission of language skills, but also an integrated teaching of language and its culture. The purpose of English teaching in the vocational education is to cultivate the students'practical application competence in foreign language learning. A detailed analysis of the socio-cultural test and the teachers'survey shows that cultural factors play an important role in college English teaching and the writer tries to discuss deeply the cultural transmission in it. Based on theories of culture teaching, the author of the thesis advocates that it is necessary to introduce the culture knowledge to non-English majors in class, which can be done from several aspects, which are vocabulary, translation, reading and writing. In addition, to facilitate the culture teaching, corresponding measures should be taken beyond the class. These include many activities out of class, such as providing lectures, helping them reading in order to enlarge their knowledge and encouraging them to contact with foreign people. To achieve this purpose, college English teachers should possess bilingual competence as well as bicultural competence. Teachers should also command good teaching techniques of teaching culture in class. This thesis consists of the introduction and six chapters.
