In recent years, history scholars have focused on studies of rural society in modern history, in order to provide for today. In the many causes of the changes of modern rural communities, ports open is a extremely important one. It introduced modern rural social factors and stimulated many potential active factors of the rural communities, which contributed to tremendous changes in rural economy, culture and social life.Guangxi is located in China's southwest border, adjacent to Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast Asian countries. Guangxi resources are abundant, and it is a multi- ethnics region, long living the Han, Zhuang, Yao, Miao, Dong and so on. We comprehensivly study changes of economic conditions ,culture, ethnics and relations between urban and rural areas ,which happened after opening. These exhuming useful lessons, which is very realistic .From 1876 to 1906, four trading ports ,which are in Guangxi, were successively opened. They are Beihai(then belonging to the Guangdong Province), Longzhou, Wuzhou and Nanning. The opening of these four ports was the results of humiliating diplomacy of later Qing Dynasty government, but also meet the objective requirements of the domestic and international economic developments.After opening the ports, Guangxi not only connected with the coastal markets, but also with the international markets. Open ports rapidly become the economic radiation centers of Guangxi province, serve as the roles which G.William Skinner call"local-class city".Open ports stimulated lower"economic centres", these lower"economic centres"were towns. Ports and towns portfolioed market networks, stimulating the developments of market economy in rural areas. These were mainly manifested in the fully connections of famers'productions with the market, and farmers'livelihoods dependence on the market.New trading market patterns of Guangxi stimulated rural potential economic factors, causing the development of various economic sectors in rural areas.
