"Revolutionary Model Dramas" is the product of the revolutionization and modernization of dramas, and the product of specific social history and politics. As a representative of art image of its times, we need to examine it from multi-dimensions and analyze it objectively and historically. The present article overviews the studies on "Revolutionary Model Dramas" from "affective critics" to "political critics" and to "artistic critics", with a process gradually touching on the art per se of "Model Dramas". Then, it studies the "Model Dramas" from the perspective of the language of plane photography. By analyzing the changes of the stage photos from the dramas before and after modifying as "Model Dramas" and the stage photos published on related medium, the article hopes to reveal how national ideology had influenced the creation of "Model Dramas" and had made it a graphic symbol of the national ideology. In addition, the article reveals how the image of heroes was created by means of photographing to embody the principle of "three prominences". The article further explores how the photo language of the stage photos and the "tall-large-overall" and "red-bright-brilliant" characters and the theories such as "from the route", "theme first" affect the creation of fine arts, photography and other subjects of plane arts.
