Murakami Haruki is one of the most famous modern authors of Japan. The sales of his novels refreshed Japanese novels' sales records again and again. His novels created the "Murakami Haruki' s phenomenon" as well as brought a great success abroad.Murakami Haruki' s novels possess both the characteristics of the popular literature and the scholastic literature. He focuses on the feeling of solitude, inanity and lose of the people(especially the youth) of the post-industrial time. He uses his simple, humorous and music-liked language to tell the post-modern time stories full of reality and imaginary. He also tries to show a new living style of the post-modern citizens.Through the introduction of the experiences of Murakami Haruki' s life and creation and the development of the Japanese post-modernistic literature, this essay analyzes the novels of Murakami Haruki in the environment of the post-modernization.
