Shout,or Sink In The Mood Of Melancholy

In my article, the main object is the "aroused man" in Luxun's novels and the "superflows man" in Yu Dafu's novels. What I mainly mention is the relationship between the "melancholy man" and the "Confucian culture". Except the preface and the conclusion, there are four parts in my article. In the first part, I discuss the social and cultural background that the melancholy man produced. At that time, China is in the domestic trouble and foreign invasion. To save the crisis, many reforms surged forward, the New Culture Movement among them was initiated by a batch of intellectuals. They look "overthrow the Confucian ethics and set up new western culture" as a goal. But during the war of Chinese and Western culture, the intellectuals has been failed, so they all felt gloomy . In the second part, I sum up the picture of images of a group of characters of the melancholy man in the novels of Luxun and Yu Dafu's. In the third part, I describe the character of the melancholy man, and the relationship between this kind of character and the Confucian ethics. The novels of Luxun and Yu Dafu have both described vividly that the youth are here "sex" and "live" these two respects in a depressed state. Among them, "sex" in a depressed state is most vividly in Yu Dafu's novel. Because the sexual taboo of China's traditional culture, Yu Dafu got a sense of sexual shame from childhood., but the western culture makes him accept sexual liberation. These two different cultures' sexual ideas make a sharp conflict in Yu Dafu. Luxun's novels are much better than the others in the depicting of the melancholy of the "live". Luxun not only describe the pain of living, but also portray the pain of the "aroused man" soul in the period of colliding between the Chinese and western culture.In the forth part, I state the fate of "Death" of the "superflows man" and the" aroused man" while resisting the Confucian culture ——death on body or spirit. Then, I probe into Luxun and Yu Dafu's ways which cure the pains of the melancholy man's soul. One side with the same way of theirs, but a more one is different. Yu Dafu Just cares about the intellectuals' own conduct and spirit, but lack of the philosophic aspect of Luxun ——strong historical criticized consciousness in the spirit of that kind of resistance of desperate.
