| Objective To evaluate the security and effectiveness of the uterine artery embolization(UAE) in the treatment of cesarean scar pregnancy.Method From 2004 to 2007,30 patients undergoing uterine artery embolization for their cesarean scar pregnancy were studied retrospectively.30 patients had previous history of lower segment cesarean section.All of them had amenorrhea with or without painless irregular vaginal bleeding.30 cases were all diagnosed by ultrasonography.28 cases were treated with curettage after uterine artery embolization,2 case was treated with curettage after medicine treatment.Result Among the 28 cases who were treated with curettage after uterine artery embolization,25 cases(25/28) had bleeding <200ml during curettage;2 cases who were treated with curettage after medicine treatment underwent emergency uterine artery embolization because of persistent bleeding in 24 hours after curettage.All of the 30 patients were successfully retained the reproductive function,and the serum hCG returned to the normal level in 9 - 35 days after curettage.After 1 - 2 months,they had normal menstruation with no significant complications.Conclusion Uterine artery embolization is an effective,safe and minimally invasive method with low risk of heavy bleeding for the treatment of cesarean scar pregnancy,which should be the first choice for patients with cesarean scar pregnancy. |
