Objective: To investigate the psychosocial risk factors of mild cognitive impairment in old people.Subjects and methods: We conducted a case-control study between the MCI patients and normal cognition olderly in bureaus of military retiree in Beijing. 508 MCI cases and 165 normal cognition cases were selected. To investigate respondents' social demography basic data (gender, age, education level),leisure activities and Personal Hobby (exercises, handwriting, gardening, etc), social participation and special experience (social activities, experience in Cultural Revolution,serious psychic trauma), sleeping and affection,histories of chronic disease.SPSS 12.0 statistics software was used to analyse data. Univariate analyses were conducted using chi-square test,t test, Fisher exact test,and multivariate analyses were conducted using Logistic regression model.Results: 1. general conditions: There are 673 respondents in all, included 165 MCI patients and 508 normal cognition old people were investigated. All subjects aged from 76 to 78.The MCI group's average age was 77.1±0.59 years,the normal cognition group's was 76.9±0.58 years old. Vocational all being armyman. There are no significant differences in the gender composition among two groups。2. Univariate analyses:In univariate analyses, age, education level, social activities, exercises,handwriting,drawing and writing there are all significant differences between MCI group and NC group (P <0.05). There were no significant relations between the rest factors and MCI (P> 0.05).3. Multivariate analyses: Stepwise logistic regression analysis shows that age, education level, social activities,exercises,and writing are independent factors for MCI.OR (95%CI) are 1.47 (1.08~2.01),0.50 (0.34~0.74),0.57 (0.40~0.81), 0.44 (0.21~0.92),0.57 (0.36~0.91 )。Conclusion: Age,education level,social activities,exercises, and writing were significantly related to the mild cognitive impairaient.Age is independent risk factors for MCI. Education,social activities,exercises, and writing are protective factors for MCI.
