| Five mutant eR-1~eR-5 with elongated uppermost internode(eui) induced from indica rice 93-11 by Cobalt-60 gamma rays.This current study is intended to understand the changes in plant morphology and seed quality of eui mutants,elucidate the polymorphism and variation of eui mutations,which will enrich the theory and the practice of the eui rice.The main results are followings:1.Compared to those of wild type 93-11,plant heights and uppermost and second uppermost internodes of mutants were significantly increased and elongated, panicle lengths of mutants were significantly longer,the tillering ability were improved in mutants eR-4 and eR-5,and no significant differences in number of grains per panicle and seed setting rate,1000-grain weights were reduced to different extents in mutants and correspondingly decreases in yield per plant were observed, especially significant decreases in mutant eR-1 and eR-2.2.Allelic test indicated that mutants eR-1,2,4,5 were allelic to each other and the previously reported eui,but non-allelic to mutant eR-3,suggesting it is a new mutation.Genetic analysis for new eui mutant eR-3 showed that the elongated uppermost internode(eui) trait was controlled by one recessive gene.The mutated gene eui3 was located to a 14Mb region between SSR markers RM127 and RM142 on chromosome 4. |
