With the accelerated pace of China's bridge construction, more and more bridges were built, which formed a permanent water barrier, narrowed the river section width and changed the costumed ships route, which brings new challenges to our water transportation safety. From 1996 to 2004,231 ship-bridge collision accidents have taken place, which brings large economic losses and casualties. Systemically research on built bridge collision accident is of great significance on bridge safety design and ship safety management.At present, there are many researches on the ship-bridge collision accidents were formed theories about accident analysis and collision probability. However, convrinious research should be done to imporove current theories. In 2002, Chinese scholars put forward a simple probability model to calculate the pier collision probability for bridge design. However, the experience parameters for different ships need further systemic study. To ensure bridge safety, ship-bridge collision risk factors were analyzed, geometric bridge collision probability model were revised, the different ship collision with Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge were calculated. As a conclusion, the applicability of modified model was verified. Main work could be demonstrated as follows:(1) The different analysis methods and the probability of Ship-Bridge Collision at home and abroad were reviewed and summarized.(2) The typical ship-bridge collision accidents were outlined, then based on a large number of incident cases, collision accident characteristics and accident risk factors were analyzed, finally considering five facters, man, ship, bridge, environmental, and management. The corresponding navigation safety precautions and management measures for the safety of the bridge and ship were initially proposed.(3) The major existing ship-bridge collision probability model analyzed and compared, and the integral range value of geometry collision probability model is smaller, the width achieved by the turbulence integral range around bridge piers should be added to Studied on Daitongyu mode, incorporated modified geometric probability model into the formulation, and reached a revised simple model.(4) With statistics on Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge collision accidents, characteristics were analyzed. Acquainted the ship track, verified whether the distribution of tracks is normal distribution, Normalized the ship track that against the current negative skewed distribution, got the mean and variance. Geometric collision probability on different particulars and water levels to each pier of Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge was calculated, the probability of impact factor were concluded.(5) Analysis results show that the modified ship-bridge probability model is applicable.
