The freeway network in China is rapidly developing, causing a lot of problems about maintenance and management. Preventive maintenance can maintain a good service level of pavement, reduce maintenance cost, extent road service life, so it is being extended and applicated gradually.The existing asphalt pavement performance evaluation system is not fully applicable to the freeway asphalt pavement, and it is aimed at traditional corrective maintenance. Therefore, it is very important for freeway maintenance and management to explore the performance evaluation method of freeway asphalt pavement, based on the analysis of freeway pavement performance features, surveys and studies on pavement premature damages, and the applicable conditions of preventice maintenance. The pavement performance prediction model can predict the performance disintegration over time and load before and after the application of preventive maintenance, therefore provide guidance for maintenance decisions.On the foundation of analysis of freeway asphalt pavement premature damage features and climatic characteristics of the researth region, the paper gives evaluation indicators and their criteria in freeway asphalt pavement based on preventive maintenance. Meanwhile, the paper makes a pavement integrated evaluation using matter-element model. The evaluation results fit the actual pavement condition well.The paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of pavement performance prediction models both home and abroad, and on this base, builds freeway asphalt pavement performance prediction model suited for preventive maintenance using BP neural network. The model has achieved good effects.
