| Based on the research of overlapping column transfer structure, the concept of overlapping shear wall transfer structure was brought forward, which was suitable for the design of vertical discontinuous shear walls in tall buildings. Compared with conventional thick plate transfer structure applied in this situation, it had advantages in many aspects, such as saving materials, making full use of architectural space, reducing lateral stiffness change in vertical direction, etc.Overlapping wall transfer structure was used in Jiali Center, Tianjin, and a static experiment study on that transfer structure with 1/5 scale was presented in this paper. The experiment results proved that reinforcement in the transfer bracket could maintain in elastic stage under severe earthquake, which was designed according to current Chinese structural design codes.The experiment results and relative analysis revealed that damage development process in transfer bracket under reversed cyclic loading was as follows: cracks occurred in the tensile end zone first, then became wider, approaching to the inside; in the compressive end zone, cracks caused by compression, together with the cracks formed formerly during tension developed in diagonal direction; eventually the amount of yielded reinforcement increased, and concrete damaged severely, the structure collapsed. The damages mainly concentrated in the diagonal zone and the junction of transfer bracket and upper/lower wall.Analytical formulas for overlapping wall transfer structure in elastic stage were established in this paper, through that, overlapping wall transfer structure differed from overlapping column essentially in the space compatibility, which induced torsion along transfer bracket, and could be characterized by a coefficient characterized in this paper.On the basis of experiment study, using strut-and-tie model, typical damage region for overlapping wall transfer structure was put forward in this paper. Numerical examples indicated that sufficient reinforcement in transfer bracket could maintain in elastic stage while the upper/lower wall reached ultimate strength, and insufficient reinforcement in typical damage region might lead to damages.The design procedure with relative design recommendations using strut-and-tie model and that according to Chinese structural design codes were respectively presented in this paper. |
