With the development of economic and the automobile industry, every country in the world has encountered with traffic jam and traffic congestion. With the more powerful of the computer information processing capacity and the improvement of electronic technology, the development of advanced control theory, How to make the best use of existed resources through the rational traffic control strategy, and play the greatest potential of transportation and to alleviate the pressure of traffic, now has become an important research direction in the traffic signal control field.The dissertation is based on the study of the current situation of city traffic signal control both here and abroad. Firstly the basic theory of traffic signal control is introduced and discussed, and several typical traffic signal control systems' modeling process, timing optimization and system performance are analyzed. For two controlled objects one is trunk system and the other is regional networks system, Logical optimize control algorithm of truck system and regional network system based on Pan Boolean Algebra are presented.In the optimizing control model of the trunk system, firstly the basic theory of the trunk system is introduced, and its form factor is analyzed, then a new optimizing control algorithm based on logical control is proposed for an actual trunk system. The aim for optimizing is to form Bidirectional-Green-Wave control, to obtain the maximal passing cars, and to ensure the maximal passing efficiency.In the optimize control model of regional network system, firstly the basic characteristic of the regional network system and the partition method of sub-regional network system are introduced. Then a optimize control arithmetic based on logical control is proposed for an actual regional network system. The aim for optimizing is to reduce the average delay time of the whole system.A simulated model is established for three intersections through the Visual C++ programming software. The running status and running parameters can be acquired in the model in two control models, in which the one is timing control and the other is logical control. The simulated result indicates that the control mode based on logical control can effectively improve the intersection's passing ability and reduce the delay time comparing with the timing control mode. Finally the rationality of the design and the validity of its realization can be validated through the actual hardware circuit.
