With the development of our national economy, the scales of civil and industrial construction are expanding very rapidly. To meet people's using functions and production technologies, the buildings with extra length and height are arising continuously. Due to the heavy quantities, these buildings cannot be finished in one year usually. Most of these buildings only have fundamental structural frames but no exterior-protected construction or architectural coat. Completely exposed to the formidable natural conditions for long time, these naked buildings'durability is unsuspected. This paper is just to study the cold climate's influence on the RC buildings'(especially for the buildings with extra length and height) durability and mechanical properties within our country's northern area. This paper is composed by two parts. The first part is about experiments. The cold climate's influence on the RC buildings'durability by comparability test on the RC beams within different environments and different ages was studied. The second part is about theoretical analysis. In this part the temperature effects in RC buildings was studied by the finite element method (FEM). The temperature effect's regularities of distribution and influencing factor were studied too.According to the researching of this paper, we can obtain that the cold climate's influence on the RC buildings'durability within our country's northern area is not obvious. But the temperature effects in them are assignable. Especially in those buildings with extra length, some time the temperature effects even can make them broken.
