| Sailing is one of the maritime athletic activities. During the voyage, the angle between the sail and wind and angle made with sail by boat are not fixed, also the direction of wind is baffling and wind's force is unstable. Especially wind's direction and force, not only does it influence the sailboat's navigation but also it directly decides the sailboat's speed which involves in various parameters sailboat. Therefore, in consideration of these complicated factors, how to improve the sailboat's performance and the athletes' skill level becomes a great significant research project.With the continuous development of information technology, more and more scholars start the research work on the sailing. Most of their studies just emphasize the automatic helm, speed, handling performance, etc. In terms of simulation, some papers about the sailing simulation have been published, but they mostly focus on the sailboat's performance. When it comes to the research on sailboat motion specifically, the papers which take the sailboat's resistance by seawater and the influence of the seawater force into consideration, directly get the intuitional simulation result of the sailboat and establish a database for the relations between sailboat speed and wind speed, are rarely seen so far.Based on the above-mentioned, from the perspective of mechanics' principle of sailing, the structure of this thesis is organized as follows: Firstly, the kinematics mathematical modeling method of hull is introduced, and then the force's analysis of sails, the power source of sailboat and the speed mathematical modeling of sailing are analyzed. Secondly, a general knowledge on ship resistance is elaborated, and then the ITTC-57 friction resistance formula used in calculating viscous resistance of board and the computational method of dank area are discussed with emphasis. Thirdly, under the platform of three-dimensional animation software—3ds max and its reactor dynamic module, the simulation process is carried out, and the database for the relation between sailboat's speed and wind speed is created. After analyzing the relation curve graph between theoretic value and simulation value of sailboat's speed, the simulation result shows this method is workable. Finally, the main innovational points of this paper are presented and some problems which need to resolve and directions for future research work are discussed in the last chapter. |
