Power plant have advanced DCS system,they collected a large number of data.But the valuable information hidden behind of the data is not mind and used effectively.Data Mining,a new generation of tool and technique for automatic and intelligent database analysis, is an active area with the promise for a high payoff in manybusiness and scientific application.On the otherhand,nowledge acquisition has beena bottleneck with the rapid development of electric power information technollogy.To deal with this challenge,Data Mining technology is studied and applied to faultdiagnose of coal fired power generation unit in this paper.The paper applied the decision tree algorithm of data mining to the faultdiagnosis,and we can found the equipment character from the power plant operationdata,so we can solve the bottleneck problem efficiently.The diagnosis to theexamples of boiler failure proved it to be practical. This new method can be used toanalyze the character of power plant unit,supervise the condition,diagnose thefailure and maintain the equipment,it is really useful in the maintain of theequipment and the technical support to the developed of power plant SIS system.
