Re-creation Of Interior Natural Lighting Environment

Louis Kung says, "The natural light is the unique light to make the buildingbecome art." Using natural light in old building reuse projects is in accordance withthe thought of continuable development, and satisfies the people's thirst for naturalworking and living environment. On the one side, how to use the natural light islimited by the old building. But on the other side, how to use the natural light has theadvantages which can't be found in new building construction. Creating a good indoornatural lighting environment within limits is worth appreciating and admiring, andbesides, because of the existence of physical level and psychological level which arepeculiar to old building reuse, architects also create amazing and impressing works inpractice. How to create better physical lighting environment within limits, and how tomake use of the material clues and psychological clues to create inspiringpsychological environment, is the purpose of this dissertation. The dissertation is toexcavate the qualities of materials suitable for the old building reuse and summarizethe successful reusing cases. Basing on these, the author brings forward the solutionsto recreating physical level of lighting environment. In the aspect of psychologicallevel of lighting environment recreation, the dissertation goes deep into the innatecharacters of the thing from the angle of psychology, and thereby, puts forward theauthor's innovative opinions in the field of building reuse. Finally, the dissertationexpatiates the method of predicting the result of lighting environment recreation andputs forward the principles how to choose the best solution to lighting recreation. Theauthor analyzes the recreating example, which occurred in the atrium of architecturedepartment building in Tianjin University, combining the theory and the practice.
