Shaft drive is an important methord of mechanical power transmission. The detection and adjustment of shaft alignment (Coaxial) is a very important step in realizing the shaft drive, so a good shaft alignment is considered as important assureance, which can certify the equipment with normal operation; reduce vibration, noise, machine damage; prevent and remove the unexpected failures. Experience has shown that if the shaft alignment is not accurate enough will result in mechane damage badly, even endanger the lives of staff.The laser shaft alignment instrument can mainly detect the devation and adjustment during the process of measuring and aligning machines. Currently, there are many high-tech and high-precision laser shaft alignment instrument in foreign countries, such as Germany's Proof laser instrument, Sweden's FIXTURLASER instrument and so on, but they are expensive. So in this thesis, we aim to design a high-precision and high-efficient laser shaft alignment instrument which based on position sensitive detector (PSD) and in order to meet the urgent needs of engineering.During the design of this instrument, we study the characteristic of laser's bare spot energy center which detected by position sensitive detector PSD, and its circuit; establish the mathematical model of two laser beam LD/PSD alignment instruments, deduce the formulation of the measured parameters, and though this formulation we can get the loaction of the 2 rotay axes. In the practice of measurement, as long as we measure the double-beam LD / PSD bare spot in special locations, we can obtain the relative position of the two axes, and get the adjustment. The core of the system MCU is the CYGNAL Company's C8051F005 microcontroller, which can acquire the input voltage signal of the enlarged PSD. This system includes semiconductor lasers, position sensitive sensors, amplifier module, inclinometer, single-chip system, LCD display and keyboard module. In software system, two detect methods which we called two-point and three-point method have been designed, though the experiment , the precision of the inclinometer and the accuracy of the laser shaft alignment instrument have been certified.
