Calcium Lignosulfonate (CL)was good performances and cheap price which was used widely as common water reducer. But CL as a superabsorbent resin additives had not ever been reported. CL superabsorbent resin was a new kind of macromolecular network polymer materials, which contained hydrophilic groups and could absorb a large amount of water. This paper studied on the preparation process, morphology and structural characterization and the application in soil. This paper studied on the synthesis of Calcium Lignosulfonate superabsorbents. The influence of several conditions on absorbency had been studied as following: the component of Calcium Lignosulfonate, the type and amount of initiator, the type and amount of crosslinke, amount of acrylamide, neutralization degree, and drying conditions. Further more through the ortho-experiment, the optimum process parameters in this experiment system were obtained (wt%): acrylic (AA) 47.9%, acrylamide(AM) 13.81%, Calcium lignosulfonate 18.8%, initiator0.39%, neutralization 19.11% and cross-linker 0.19%. Under these conditions, resin absorbency with distilled water and a saline solution (0.9%NaCl) is 1019g/g and 111.2g/g, respectively. The copolymers were characterized by IR spectroscopy, Thermal analysis and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM). It proved to be a better thermal stability, and the component of comonomers influenced the resin`s decomposition temperature and surface morphological characterization notably. Finally, this paper studied on a high superabsorbent resin in the soil application of research. Superabsorbent resin as an aquasorb directly applied to the soil. Compared with the traditional super absorbent resin, water absorbency increased by 15%, increased in permeability of soil, and could be used repeatedly. At the same time, SAR had a good expansion, could reduce evaporation, in particular, increased soil available water- absorbency, increased soil temperature, and improved soil permeability. This kind of superabsorbent resin with high water absorption rate, salt tolerance, environmental protection and low-cost would be more widely used in agriculture.
