1-acetyl-1'-heptylferrocenylthiosemicarbazone(abbreviated as AHFTSC) and1-acetyl-1'-bromoferrocenylthiosemicarbazone (ABFTSC) have been synthesized. We have also prepared their ten complexes with transition metals [Co(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ) and Cd(Ⅱ)]. These compounds were characterized by IR and 1H NMRspectroscopy, thermal(DTA-TG) analysis, and elemental analysis.Element analysis has proven that the general formula of these complexes is asfollow: [RFcC(CH3)NNHCSNH2]2·M·xH2O(R=-C7H15 or Br, M=Co, Ni, Cu,Zn,Cd, x=0~2). The AHFTSC ligand coordinates through sulfur and nitrogen(N1)atoms, and the ABFTSC ligand coordinates with Co(Ⅱ) and Cd(Ⅱ) in the same way, these complexes are formed by five-membered ring chelating coordination. On theother hand, the ABFTSC ligand coordinates with Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) throughsulfur and nitrogen(N2) atoms, forming five-membered ring. Tests of antibacterialactivity showed that two ligands and their complexes all had inhibitory actionsagainst G(+)Staphylococcus aureus and G(-)Escherichia coli. And the inhibitoryactions against G(+)Staphylococcus aureus are better than G(-)Escherichia coli.
