| The seeded emulsion polymerization was used to prepare the one-component and two-component acrylic contact adhesives with core-shell latex particle. The one-component emulsion contact adhesives were prepared by using hydroxylethyl acrylate, methylmethacrylate and styrene as the core comonomers, and butyl acrylate, vinyl acetate, and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the comonomers of intermediate layer, and glycidyl methacrylate as the shell monomer. The effects of reaction temperatures, emulsifiers and their dosages, functional monomers, initiator, thickening agent, the ratios of hard to soft monomers on the emulsion stability and the mechanical strength were studied, and the optimal technology for preparing the one-component emulsion contact adhesive was determined. In addition, the effects of the addition of VeoVa 9 on the water resistance and peel strenghth were also measured, and the results show that the addition of VeoVa 9 can improve the peel strength to polyethylene film and water resistance. The morphology of latex particles were characterized by SEM. The effects of the active groups and the crosslinking degree on the properties of adhesives were also investigated by the mechanical and thermodynamic characterization. While the emulsion is dried and forms a film, the deformation of latex particles will lead to the crosslinking reaction of the potential active groups to form IPN structure so that the adhesive properties including mechanical properties are improved. This one-component emulsion can be used as contact adhesives and applied to adhesion of polymer films. Two kinds of the two-componet contact adhesive were prepared with methylmethacrylate and styrene as the core comonomers, and butyl acrylate, vinyl acetate and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the shell comonomers, which were wrapped with homopolymer of hydroxylethyl acrylate and glycidyl methacrylate, respectively. Through study of the effects of the dosage of functional mononers on the emulsion stability and peel strength, and comparison with the peel strength of one-componet emulsion adhesive, the conclusion was drawn that the peel strenghth of the two-component is higher than that of the one-componet. If heating the composite polyester film, the peel strength can be further improved. |
