An overview of research concerned at home and abroad shows both advantages and disadvantages that exist in present measurements. And this paper proposes a novel method to obtain measurement information of shaft-parts. That is a CCD-based automatic non-contact measuring System.With characteristic information got from image processing by Matlab software, exact geometric dimensions of shaft-parts of different angles, and tolerances on basis of fraunhofer diffraction theory are obtained rapidly which promises qualified products.This paper illustrates the working principle and establishment of full system and image collection system, gives details about mechanical structure and software that is responsible for image processing and result gaining. This new measurement solves the match problem of measuring precision and rapidity to real production. Thus it provides an efficient way to detecte shaft-parts precisely and rapidly. At the same time, the CCD-based detecting way can be expanded to other applications besides shaft-parts. It also provides a non-contact measurement to similar parts, which settles the match problem of visual angle and precision to requirements in measuring application.
